grabbing a screenshot from a pocket pc

Ever since I got an 8525 Windows Mobile smartphone from Cingular (now AT&T Wireless), I’ve been really into modifying it and developing for it. The phone itself is pretty incredible. Being able to check email and/or web sites whenever you want gets addicting after a while. It would be very hard to go back to my old disconnected days. Some people say its bad to be too connected, but my feeling is you can always ignore it if you want.

Anyway, I’ve been doing a lot of work lately on Google Calendar synchronization program for Windows Mobile phones and PDAs. I also have another phone project which is a skin for the phone to make it a little more usable.

In order to create decent documentation and help these projects, I needed to get some screenshots from the phone. I found an amazing app called MyMobiler that not only lets you take screenshots of your phone but also lets you control it remotely from Windows. And the best part is it’s free! I don’t know how they did it but, as George Costanza would say, jimmy crack corn and I don’t care.
